An Historic Landmark, and One Very Beautiful Bed & Breakfast in Southampton, NY...

"Among the three best of the Hamptons, Boxfarm dates to 1683 and is on the list of National Historic Landmarks. Very centrally located, it sits at the center of the six towns that comprise 'the hamptons'. All of its guest rooms are warm and inviting; its grounds are lovely; its fresh, daily full breakfasts..........and a lively 'cocktail hour' complete the picture of a wonderful small inn.

The family that looks after Boxfarm is European, speaks several languages and is a special treat. Quality abounds throughout this lovely B&B. One other thing;.........it is just down the road from the most spectacular beach in the Hamptons. All in all, a joy; we recommend it without reservation."

Cedar shingles emerged as the preferred building material for siding in the 1600s. Resistance to rot, weather worthiness, ease if use, combined with the abundance of red cedar trees made it the perfect exterior finish for the modest homes of the time. The modern-day architecture referred to as "Hamptons Shingle Style" utilizes this humble building material as the finish for elaborate Hamptons estates.

Box Farm
Located in the beautiful community of Water Mill, Southampton, New York, Boxfarm is an historic 1600's colonial farmhouse, offering fine lodging in the heart of the hamptons. Boxfarm is one of the hamptons' most romantic inns. The best of the best.. The rarity and age of this residence, and architectual significance of the property have qualified it to be listed with the National Trust for Historic Preseration.

Conde Nast Traveler, Travel and Leisure, NYTimes and others have named Boxfarm among 'the best of the best' of the hamptons. We work to be the best bed and breakfast, the best inn, the best hotel in Southampton..............and we invite you to visit with us.

Lovingly restored and beautifully decorated, Boxfarm is one of the hamptons most romantic inns with three common rooms, a dining room and country kitchen, six beautiful bedrooms, each with a private bath, and a lovely porch, overlooking the Inn's own swimming pool, all within a few miles of some of the most loveliest beaches in the world.

The House and Property
Box Farm is one of the few farmhouses which have survived from the 1600's. The property's first owners predated 1686. Expanded over generations, the house derived its form from early English and Dutch traditional homes and although modified over time, still remains an excellent example of architectural decoration of the 1700 and 1800's. The property boasts spacious lawns, 200 year old shade trees with hammocks and a lovely porch overlooking our beautiful swimming pool.

You can view the Inn room by room, by clicking on the "Rooms" link of this site. You're also welcome to drop by and say hello...............and visit for a cup of coffee. We are very available to discuss any plans you may have for this season.

In brief, it is not possible to be more centrally located in the Hamptons. Box Farm rests in the center of the Hamptons, four miles to Southampton, one mile to Bridgehampton, six miles to East Hampton.
